The challenge: Finding incremental revenue opportunities that boost LTV without compromising existing monetization or retention

Ovivo’s portfolio includes hyper-casual and hybrid casual puzzle games with well-established and consistent monetization mechanics. Their ongoing challenge has been to find a new monetization solution that delivers true incremental revenue – and doesn’t cannibalize any of their other monetization revenue. 

In order to achieve their goals, Ovivo sought out a monetization SDK that had a unique spin to entice users, offered consistent revenue, and didn’t impact their baseline metrics.

The solution: Implementing HEX, a play-and-earn SDK that leverages loyalty mechanics for users and has significant revenue potential for publishers

Just like all of Mistplay’s products, HEX takes a loyalty-first approach to monetization by offering gamers tangible rewards based on playtime. HEX is a one-of-a-kind dynamic ad unit that allows users to earn Mistplay units while playing games. 

The configurable HEX “sticker” rewards Mistplay units for playtime, encouraging users to keep playing. When prompted, HEX informs users they can claim the units they’ve accumulated in Mistplay and redeem them for tangible rewards like gift cards. Once they install Mistplay, the user sees their unit balance carried over from the game, and the publisher earns a CPI.

The results

HEX showed very quick success in initial A/B testing and was rapidly implemented across Ovivo’s portfolio of over 20 games. With HEX integrated, Ovivo saw promising results over Q1 2025.
